We see them everywhere we go and with an acceleration in global EV sales, electric vehicles will soon be the most prominent fleet on the road.
Based on a report by the International Energy Agency (IEA), they have suggested that one in five cars sold this year will be of the electric variety. They have also predicted an overall 17 million EVs to be sold across the full year.
In the first three months of this year alone, EV sales globally were the same as the total sold in the whole year of 2020.
This consistent growth improves on 2023’s impressive record-breaking year, which saw EV sales rise by about 35%, 14 million worldwide.

With gradual declines in the prices of EVs and their batteries, as well as huge investments being put into their supply chain, bigger changes are on the way in the future.
It is predicted that most cars sold globally are going to be electric by 2035 and if energy climate pledges are achieved by countries on time, we would see every two in three cars sold be electric vehicles.
If this happens, approximately 12 million barrels of oil which are needed daily, will be cut. This equates to today’s demand for road transport in both China and Europe.
